The Awards
Septi Award
Decided by our 7 local judges, the Septi Award is the film entry that receives the highest accumulated score from our judges, factoring in whether the team elected to take a “Easter Egg Challenge” to receive 5 extra points if they complete the challenge, or subtract points if they do not. The Septi award is presented to the team at the Festival Screening.
Hip Clip Award
At the 50 Hour Slam Festival screening, the Audience makes it’s voice heard. They have the opportunity to vote for their favorite of the 16 films screened that night (15 top judges scores, the 16th being the organizers choice of films whose team tweets the organizers favorite tweet). The Hip Clip Award is presented to the winning team at the Festival Screening.
Slammy Award
The Slammy is awarded entry that receives the highest number of votes by the general public via the Slam Websites Viral Video competition. Every team (not just the 16 screening at each years Festival Screening) is included in this award’s list of potential winners. The voting period is over 30 days following the Festival screening.
Spirit Award
Sometimes a film really stands out to the organizers of the Slam. As of 2015, we decided to make it official and add the Spirit Award to our list of Awards presented at the Festival screening.
Best Actress/Actor
Our Best Actress and Best Actor awards are given in recognition of a performance by one actor and one actress that shines through in that years entries. This award is presented at each year’s Festival Screening.
